The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC act. Applications are invited for admission to the following non-residential higher degree programmes offered by the institute at its BITS, Pilani -Goa Campus. These programmes are available to candidates who are normally employed and not in a position to attend the regular residential programmes offered by the institute.

 

Programmes Offered:

M.E.: Chemical Engineering; Embedded Systems; Computer Science.

Duration: Normally four semesters plus two summer terms.

Eligibility: A minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

 

Input Qualification:

M.E. Embedded Systems Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical & Electronics/Electronics & Instrumentation/ Computer Science or its equivalent.

M.E. Computer Science – Integrated first degree of BITS in Computer Science or its equivalent.

M.E. Chemical– Integrated first degree of BITS in Chemical Engineering or its equivalent .

Note: Offering of Programmes will depend upon the number of suitable candidates for the particular programme. The programmes will be conducted in the evening hours or at the weekend depending upon number of suitable applicants for each of the programmme  Admissions to the Programmes are based on the performance of the candidates in the written test and interviews conducted by BITS. Shorlisted candidates will be asked to come to Goa at their own cost for the written tests and interview which will be held on 25th July 2009 at BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus. Based on the performance in test and interviews candidates will be selected for admission.

Duration:  120 Minutes.                                      Total number of questions:  100

 

The Test subject for a student is based on his/her qualifying degree programme. This paper will attempt to test student’s grasp of the basic subjects of his/her discipline.  The discipline courses of different degree programmes of BITS have been used for constructing the questions. The course descriptions are available in the syllabus given later in the brochure

 

For all the above tests all questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with four choices, only one being the correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks are awarded or deducted for questions not attempted. All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only.

How to Apply:

 

Interested and eligible candidates should apply through the prescribed application form to be downloaded from the website: www.bits-goa.ac.in/nradm/form. The completed application form along with the prescribed fee of Rs 1000/- in the form of a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of BITS-PILANI Goa Campus, payable at State Bank of India, Zuarinagar  Branch, (Code:1976), is to be sent by registered post / speed post or personally submitted to the under-mentioned so as to reach him before 5.00 PM on 3rd July 2009.

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS

 

Read the following carefully:

1.       All entries should be neatly and legibly filled in.

2.       Incomplete application will not be considered.

3.       Once the application is submitted to the Institute, you will be provided with the application number.

4.       The Number of your application form is unique. In all subsequent correspondence with the Institute make sure that invariably you quote this application number.

5.       The application number will be allotted to you will be sent to your email address given in your application form. Be careful to give us the correct email address. You can check the status of your application by mailing to us at nrhdadm@bits-goa.ac.in.

6.       Note down the following dates:

a)      Status of your application by email – 10th July 2009

b)     Short listed and call letter by email and also will be displayed on our website-10th July 2009. This link will be available on 10th July 2009 to 15th July 2009 only.

7.       The Selection process would include test and interview. Shortlisted candidates have to come to Goa at their own expenses.

 

Details of Tests and Interviews:

 

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to come to Goa for tests and interviews. The tests and interviews are scheduled to be held on 25th July 2009.  The exact details will be announced at the above website in the first week of July 2009. Students will be allowed to take tests & Interview provided their final results and mark sheets of the qualifying degree are available on the date of reporting for test.
