Career Launcher crowned Nishith Rastogi of Goa campus and Abhishek Humbad of Pilani Campus with the title "India's Tycoons under 25" (1st and 2nd positions respectively) respectively and honoured them with 100% scholarship on tution fees to a post graduate program of their choice, an education pilgrimage to a top B-school - Harvard, Insead etc, a laptop and attractive cash prizes.
For the uninitiated, Tycoons 08 was a nation wide, personality centric event aimed at identifying and encouraging potential future business leaders of the country. It was an initiative by Career Launcher, in association with Tata Tea’s Jaago India Foundation.
Round One, which comprised an Aptitude test, concluded on 28th January and saw participation from 2000 colleges nationwide. It was conducted in our college by the Career Development Cell (CDC). Five students were selected for the next round - The City Finals. Our college participants had to go to Mumbai for this round. After a gruelling business quiz and an extempore, two City Champions from each city made it to the Regional Finals - which predictably were held in Mumbai for the Mumbai City Champions. Participants had to make presentations/extempore on real life tycoons before debating their way through to the final round.
Forty-nine students made it to the Grande Finale, the first leg of which was held in Rishikesh where the finalists took part in some crazy sports like white water rafting and rappelling. They then attended a leadership summit in New Delhi were they interacted with the likes of Rahul Dravid, Mahesh Bhupati and Tarun Tejpal. The next round required the participants to team up and make a creative advertisement for a unique product. The shortlisted eight had to then undertake the final task – a case study of a real life situation – before the winner was declared.
Congratulations to both of them! |
