About Us
MATRIX, the brain child of Prof. S. Venkateswaran, erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, BITS,Pilani, is a forum
that took birth in 2005, at the Pilani Campus under the mentorship of our current Director,
Prof. K.E Raman.
Conceived as a platform to encourage reading in the student community outside the
vicinity of their immediate curriculum, it has gradually emerged as a forum that promotes a healthy
interchange of ideas amongst students and faculty. MATRIX primarily works through the medium of
books, but also uses cinema,music and various other art forms.
The activities of the Goa chapter of MATRIX were initiated with a very successful Book Review of “The World Is Flat” on the 4th of September,2008. The occassion was graced by the presence of
our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. L.K. Maheshwari. The panelists for the discussion included both the
students and the faculty and the session was compered by Dr. Saby John K, then faculty coordinator. MATRIX aims to enable discussions on subjects ranging from metaphysics
to astrophysics,encomapssing management, finance, politics, literature, social issues, spirituality, philosophy, music,
jounalism, art and cinema. The forum is also targetting to conduct debates, quizzes, and group discussions which have strong socio-economic, literary and cultural overtones. |
