  • "Swashikar" (Beta v1.3)

    • Swashikar is an attempt to blend modern mobile technology and interactive media to provide the basic facilities of good accessible health services, education and exercising right to complaint to the government (m-governance) against wrongdoings to people living in the villages of India. All that is needed is one mobile phone and the villagers have access to these three basic services over the air, which are rightly described to be the footholds of growth in the modern society and in realization of the great Indian dream.

  • BITS FS - BITS Course Management Tool

    • The project aims at replacing the current FTP based Academic Server used for hosting all the course material with a online http based applcation. Things like uploading course material, email , grade analysis will be done through it.

     

    		  
       
  • Cerebrum

    • The project aims at making a web site on which project reports can be uploaded. The collection of these project reports from respective departments is also a part of this project. The project reports will include those submitted by students as a part of their COP, LOP, SOP, PPL, BPL, CPL or Special Project.   • BITS, Pilani – Goa Campus Internet Website

    • The project aims at maintaining the already existing internet website of the campus and regularly updating its contents. The coordinator currently has updation permissions for the website in the presence of Server Centre staff.

  • PaySlips

    • The projects aims at automating the pay slip generation process. The project is being developed by Kartik Ukhalkar.

    The Website acts as a central point for providing access to all the network services. It also gives complete info abt the Computer Centre.

  • CSD ProjectManagement

    • This project aims at automating the process of a project development , right from floating ofa project to its completion. Things like scheduling , fixing deadlines , file management , discussion can be done through it online.

  • Event Scheduler

    • The web-based system will ensure that all student/faculty events that are planned in the campus get listed on this system to let others know as well as to make sure no other event gets scheduled for that time slot. The ARC can book directly or update events/booking of LTs or classrooms on this central website and hence, the clash of timings and days for major events can be avoided. The system can be checked by students for a free slot before booking a venue on a particular day.

  • BITS RSS Feeds                         

    • The RSS Feed server from BITS, Pilani – Goa Campus that enables people interested in receiving news updates from the campus, to get it right on their desktops or email inboxes.

  • Faculty Attendance Service

    • Faculty members can mark their attendances from their cubicle itself without coming to the room to sign off against their names.

  • Technical Support for Events

    • CSD in addition to individual projects also supports events in technical issues. For example:

    • Hold seminars, faculty lectures and competitions in association with Deptt associations and technology clubs in campus to promote use of technology.
    • CSD also plans to offer crash courses on specific topics of interest later during the semester.

    The topmost and one of the most complicated project that CSD has ever taken is the development and maintainence of the official website of the Institute. CSD has till date developed three versions of the website, the present one being the latest. However, the departmental websites are maintained by the respective web-teams of the associations.

    A new revolutionary concept suggested by the Nucleus led to the birth of BITS Zone Network Services - a group of all the various network services provided by the CSD. The BITS Zone currently consists of the CANVAS@bits-goa.ac.in, the BITS StudentNet, BITS e-Mail and BITS Buzz! - the campus forum. Follows the brief description of these services.

    The intranet website of the campus provides access to various in-campus services to the campus residents. These include online filling up of important forms required for Student Welfare Office etc. and gives updated information to the various happenings and activities within the campus. The StudentNet is an interactive platform whenever the institute wants the views/polls from the students.

    BITS Zone provides a 10 MB mailbox to all the students of the campus along with special anti-spam features and most exclusively, lightening speeds. The mail account comes clubbed with a web-based Instant Messenger too!

    Online Election Software : The CSD developed softwares for the conduction of the online elections in the campus. The Elections for the post of President, Vice President, Treasurer and representatives for Hostel management, mess, sports, cultural activities and constitution making body were conducted successfully.     Glimpses 2006 : The CD was developed with the dual purpose of providing much needed information to the first year entrants into BITS as well as providing a coverage of events and activities at BITS Goa in 2005-2006.Glimpses2006 was develped with the dual purpose of providing much needed information to the first year entrants into BITS as well as providing a coverage of events and activities at BITS in 2005-2006.
    It is also serving as a source of Information for people who want to explore the world of BITS.

    IWB 2006 Abstract & Event CD : The CSD developed CDs to be given to all the delegates of the International Workshop On Biosensors For Environmental Analysis - 2006 which was organized by the institute in the month of february 2006.     BITS ACCESS : The Centre for Software Development has till date undertaken numerous projects dealing with the development of online softwares as per the institute's requirements, for providing services & automation to the students welfare division. Chiefly among them are:

    RAILWAY CONCESSION FORM :

    The Railway Concession form is an online software which allows students to form groups for going home for vacations and apply for concession on the train ticket. Last year about 700 students availed concession for travelling home during inter-semester break and more than 225 groups were formed.

     

    INSURANCE FORM

    To facilitate the SWD's task of procuring information from the students, an online system was developed to serve the purpose of online filling up of details by the students.

     
    SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS AND VACATION DETAILS

    Similar online systems have been developed to collect information for availing scholarships and applying for leave etc... The software has been tailor made to suit the working conditions of the institute and the students welfare department.

    ID CARD GENERATION SOFTWARE : This software is developed for automatic generation of ID cards of students at BITS, Pilani - Goa Campus. The software generates the ID cards along with the Bar code for each student automatically. The software was developed by:

    CENTRALIZED HOSTEL ALLOTMENT SYSTEM : To automate the task of alloting Hostels to the newly admitted students, a software was developed which allotted each student a unique room randomly selected. The criteria of random selection was a constraint imposed by the institute. in all about 560 students were allotted hostels during admission in 2006 & 600 in 2007.
